Children Who Won't Leave

09.21.14 – CHILDREN WHO WON’T LEAVE

This workshop is for parents coping with an adult child who has ‘failed to launch’. ‘Failure to launch’ is a relatively new term that describes (usually) young men who are still living at home, and seem lost, unmotivated, unwilling or unable to move forward with their lives.

Living with this type of adult child puts a tremendous strain on any parent’s relationship. This workshop will focus on ways that parents can take care of each other while they figure out how to ‘launch’ their child. Run by David Dumais, LSCW.

Workshop will take place on Sunday September 21st from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, at 808 Union Street, Suite 3A, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

(attorney and mediator), this workshop will help couples develop both a psychological understanding of their problems and practical solutions to improve their relationships.

Workshop will take place on Sundays, October 12th and October 19th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at 808 Union Street, Suite 3A, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Being A Single Parent

11.09.14 & 11.16.14 – BEING A SINGLE PARENT

No mother or father starts out to be a single parent. The parenting process often starts out as a shared and collaborative process. Unfortunately, divorce confers a new identity on both halves of a couple—single parent. Furthermore, working together with the divorced parent is often extremely difficult. This two session workshop will focus on the difficulties and blessings of being a single parent, and on strategies for divorced parents to work together for their children’s good. Run by David Dumais, LSCW.

Workshop will take place on Sundays, November 9th and November 16th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at 808 Union Street, Suite 3A, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Divorced Fathers

12.07.14 – FATHERS IN DIVORCE

Fathers who do not have custody of their children often have very little support for their experience in divorce. They are in serious conflict with their ex-wives. They have to set up a new home for themselves and their children. They have to begin the process of single parenting when everyone in the family system is in crisis. Fathers often have nowhere to actually process the experience with other men who have gone through the same experience. This workshop will focus on the struggles of fatherhood and the need to find a “new normal”. Run by David Dumais, LSCW.

Workshop will take place on Sunday December 7th from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at 808 Union Street, Suite 3A, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
